If you want the best possible sound but don't want to spend a lot of money, then don't get a Line 6 amp!. In fact, don't get anything that's based around digital modelling circuitry!. I think the Vox Valvetronix sound pretty decent, but they're not the best!.

If you didn't have to be super loud, I would say a low-wattage tube amp from Epiphone, Fender, or Kustom!. Each is less than 300$ and sounds fantastic - lovely tube chime, great dynamics, some nice sheen and shimmer with the single coils, a bit of growl with the humbuckers, etc!. No effects built in, though, so you need to use pedals to get your tones!. I have an Epiphone Valve Jr, and even with pedals it still sounds sweet and tubey!. May not be as good as my 100 watt Mesa Tremoverb that I use for gigging, but it's also less than 1/5th the price!. I got the head unit, and I plug it into my Marshall 1960a 300 watt 4x12 cabinet, and it freakin' roars, whether I'm playing with just a Metal Zone, or with the Boss GT-3 multifx pedal!. I guess what I'm saying is that the head version with a larger cabinet can make a lot of noise!

Beyond that, the next best products are going to be full-blown tube amps with the half-stack and all that!. They sound good loud, and even better really loud, but when quieter not so much!. If you don't need to be really loud, ie in a hard rock band or some such, then you might need to step up to a higher wattage!.!.!. and that's about the most I can give you!. I know that Kustom makes a nice 65 watt (more or less) amp that's got a really good tone to it!.!.!. rocking, but not in the sterile nu-metal way, more warm!. It's a modern amp that reminds me of a vintage tone, without being vintage, and still having extra teeth!.

Yeah, Line 6 definitely!. Either that or a Vox!. Line 6's are great in my opinion, though a lot of people bash them for sounding too 'digital'!. Look into the Spider Valve series, they're meant to sound 'less artificial'!. As for Vox, they've got some pretty good modelling amps (the Valvetronix series), but I don't think they're as versatile!.

Or instead of getting a new amp, you could look into a modelling multi effects board, like the Vox Tonelab LE, which has amp models + stompbox models!.

OR, you could go for the one of the Line 6 PODs which is like above, except it's not really a pedalboard, it just has amp models and effects!.!.!.you can hook up a floorboard with it though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For versatility go with a Line 6 amp!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Vox
