I play both, first guitar and then started bass 7 years ago!. There are some overlaps with technique but at the end of the day they are two separate instruments!. More subtle things come into play with bass, like left hand muting, ghost notes, note length and ways to support the root notes and still be creative, its pretty challenging at times finding the exact perfect part!. Timing is also pretty crucial as you are supporting the other musicians, practice with a metronome more and listen to the drummer first!. There is so much to love about the bass and the role it plays, plus you will grow as a musician and become more versatile!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No! The guitar and bass are two different instruments!. The bass sits in a song in a different position than guitar!. PLaying both only leads to confusion and you will be torn which one you like the most!. Best to stick with one!. Many people do play both yet you will find that they can be a little rude and hard to deal with at times, as if they are better!. They are just easily bored is all!. Stick with one it wil pay off with a tight band!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

knowing any music theory and having a good ear will help you play any instrument better!. i play guitar a bit myself, but prefer to think of it as "humming and strumming!." however, i switched over to bass and found that i can handle moving bass lines with ease!. of course, the bass is bigger and the strings tend to tear up your fingers more!.

generally speaking, having a good understand of guitar will help you play bass better in the long run!. however, its really the amount of practice time you put in that will help you out the most!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
