Hi Bryony:

Yes, orchestra members do get paid!. I live in Michigan, and am an avid patron of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra!. As of 2006, the MINIMUM pay for a member of this orchestra was $1900!.00 per week, or $98,000 per season!. Many of the members of the orchestra make considerably more!.

Of course they do!. Each person in the orchestra is a professional musician!. There is the woodwind section, the brass section, the percussion section and the string section!. Each has instruments in it!. I'll leave that part for you to do!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, that is the meaning of the word, professional!. It means it is your job, from which you make a living!.
I know a lot of people think that being or sounding professional means that they think it's good, it doesn't!. it just means it's your job!.
