a washtub or gutbucket:

an empty paint bucket (or water bucket) with a tight hole in the bottom!. put a stick in the hole!. Stretch a string from the end of the stick attached to the bucket!.

Pluck the string while bending the stick!.

Check the website for other ideas (i like the flat plank one you can stand on on wikipedia)
