Question: Covering the one and only Miss Peggy Lee:!?
I'm fourteen and in a local talent show!. I've been really looking around for the song that just feels right and it dawned on me: Peggy Lee's Fever!. I've loved that song since I was younger!. I really want to make the song my own!. Most singers cover the song the silky smooth way, I want to bring my own taste into it and really show my range with the song and just grab you right out of your seat!. I'll be singing a'capella, chances are!. I usually don't have a problem with stage presence, I'm quite comfortable and having a time with it!. Does anyone have any advice as to really making this (or even any song) my own!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Analyze what your strengths in singing are!. Compare this to the way the original singer did it!. If they are smooth, can you find a way to be somewhat staccato!? If they sing long lines, can you break them up (but retain the sense of the line)!? Maybe you can transpose the last verse a little higher than the others!. But please maintain some respect for the original!. I heard a version of "Over the Rainbow" that seemed like only the title was left intact!. Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You could create a parody of "Fever", changing the title to any rhyming word - just like Wierd Al Yankovic has done with Madonna's song, "Like A Virgin"!.

Do it your way!. It sounds like you know what you want to achieve!. Just keep practicing so when you preform you are comfortable with your number!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
