Question: Is a person's singing ability related to how good they play an instrument!?
I play the clarinet really well!. According to my friends, I have a good voice!. I'm just curious whether my clarinet playing has anything to do with a good voice!. Is it related with being able to recognize tones and pitches!? I really want to know!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Definitely!. I'm a professional, and have been taught by Broadway veterans!. Using your diaphram well, which you can learn from playing instruments can translate into how well you sing!. also hearing notes on an instrument definitely helps you recognize pitch!. If you ever take voice lessons, it's always near a piano so they play a note and you sing it!. Be sure to keep up playing clarinet because your singing will get better! :DWww@QuestionHome@Com

um i have a good singing voice and i have a really good beat (if those have anything in common) but i absolutely SUCK at all instruments other than drum and guitar!.!.!.yeah i dont think they have anything in common since with clarinet youre blowing with your lungs and singing you have do use your!.!.!.voice!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It can be but mostly it is your hearing!.
My brother plays concert quality piano but cannot carry a tune in a bucket!.
I cannot play any instrument worth a hoot but I can hit any note and it is close to perfect pitch!.
You play the note and I can hit it if it is in my range!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, I am not sure!. I think they are not related because some people can sing but they can not play an instrument!. I was wondering the same thing, I sing in my church choir!. I am the head singer there and I am only 13, and I was wondering about taking piano lessons!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are fortunate to be able to do both!. To create sound outside your body as on the clarinet, is definitely different than producing a sound inside your body!.
The similarity is recognizing pitch and tone quality along with understanding the basics of music!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think there's any relation!. I play amazing piano but can't sing even though I have a nice voice, but maybe that's just me!. That's like saying can a painist play the violin just because she knows how to play the piano!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i wouldn't say they have anything in common, but the breath control you learn when playing an instrument probably helps!. Singing is all about vocal chords, and playing an instrument is about breath control!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think so!. I used to play the sax but was never all that good at it but I am a much better singer!. I've been in traveling choirs, musicals and all that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not necessarily, I know several people who sing very well but don't play any instruments!. And I've met a number of people who are good instrumentalists but don't have good voices at all!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes! I agree with Megan A!. It has to do with breathing (obviously can't compare with piano playing, percussion, etc!.)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I dont think so!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
