You can find violins for less than $100, and you cal also find violins that sell for $100,000, several hundreds of thousands and, in rare instances, a million dollars or more!. So where does that leave you and most other students and musicians who are shopping for a violin!? In the middle of an enormous marketplace full of possibilities and pitfalls if you don't know what you need are where to look!.

If you are a beginner, you can find a very good instruments for about $300 or so that includes a case and bow!.

If you are more advanced and can afford to spend more, higher end models fetch anywhere from $800 - $2,000!.

Most professionals play truly hand made instruments that cost more!. These prices vary widely depending on the reputation of the maker, the country of origin and the number of instruments produced by the maker each year!. When you get to this point, you will typically have input from a teacher or colleague to help you choose!.

I encourage my students to look for a "workshop" instrument because they are made by hand, just many sets of hands rather than one or two!. These instruments play well, feel very good in your hands, and they will hold their value better than factory instruments!.

I've shared a couple of links below where you can "shop" for good quality workshop instruments!. Of course, you can also visit a local shop near you, but make sure they specialize in string instruments rather than band, orchestra, pianos and electric guitars, etc!.

If you have any questions, you can email me from my profile page!.

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, it can go from maybe $100+ to millions!. I would say if you're learning, you'd want a student violin for maybe $200-300, while when you become better at it, advance to a $500-600 violin!. Then when you're going on after that, get a 1k-2k violin!. Dx It's so much money!.!.!. And it depends if you're getting a 1/4 to a 4/4 size and stuff like that!.!.!. I would go to a local music shop that has a reputation with local musicians such as a school orchestra or private teachers!. Contact them and ask about a reputable place before you buy your violin, just for quality's sake!. ^^ And violins can be rented and traded and stuff!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Probably the lowest price you can get on an instrument which won't cost so much to have setup that it defeats the purpose of purchasing an inexpensive instrument, is around $200!. See:

This is an "outfit," with instrument, bow, case and rosin!. And it's a so-called "student" violin!. This range of instruments goes up to about $500 (keep scrolling down from there), at which point you have "step-up" instruments; these are instruments which provide better quality to students who wish to continue their studies!.

The next range of instruments are professional instruments; the price range is very broad, probably from around $1,200 (more or less) to the instruments used in professional orchestras which begin in the 20K range!.

Antique instruments may range from $10,000 to many millions!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
