The tone will not be as soft and rich, but it will sound close!. It will be just a bit "twangier" But that may sound nice with some compositions!.

The biggest problem I'd say is if you are really going for "classical" or "flamenco" type guitar, the strings on a steel string guitar are much closer together which can make intricate finger picking harder, and the strings are harder to press down, so some of the left hand fingerings may hurt a little more than they would on a classical guitar!.

I try to play classical riffs of my Stratocaster, but my fingers always get stuck trying to finger pick!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For basic stuff it would probably work fine!. You'll get a brighter sound out of steel strings, but that's a matter of taste!.

I'm thinking the biggest challenge would be fingering!. If you're thinking of fast fingering it might get a little interesting!. Try it! At the very least you'll pick up guitar skills you can use in other kinds of music!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Nylon strings add to the appeal of spanish style music!. But they are also critical to the technique!. You can learn the songs and they will sound okay!. If you get serious about the style, get a classical guitar!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
