The short answer is: you don't!

If your clarinet is plastic, swabbing it out after you play should be enough!. If you use it for marching band, or are concerned that it needs to be disinfected, you can use warm soapy water (a couple drops of dish soap per cup of water) to clean it!.!.!.
saran wrap all the pads and cork- you have to keep them dry! Then run a damp swab through a couple times, make sure there is no soap left, and dry thoroughly!. You can clean the outside of the clarinet the same way, using a soft rag!. Q-tips work great for getting gunk out from between keys, but careful to watch the springs!

If your clarinet is wood, take it to a shop and let them clean it! Chemicals shouldn't be used (aside from bore oil) and you don't want to do anything to strip the oil or over-saturate the wood!.

If you are really concerned about disinfecting (like if you played while you were sick), there are some sprays you can buy from your local music stores that are safe and made just for this purpose!.

You can wash your mouthpiece in soapy water too, but again, make sure the cork stays dry!.

Hope this helped! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do not ever try to clean a clarinet with vinegar!.

I cannot imagine how a responsibly cared for clarinet would require cleaning with anything, except for soft, dry cloths!.

Vinegar will ruin your pads!. I hate to even think about its effects on grenadilla wood!. If it's a plastic clarinet, vinegar will dull the finish!.

Clarinets are not automobiles!. They do not need washing, waxing, or much of anything else other than to be dried thoroughly after being played, a little cork grease when needed, and cleaning of the mouthpiece occasionally to prevent calcium deposits!. The wood bore should be very lightly oiled, perhaps once a year!. That's it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think you just use it to clean the mouth piece!. If you get the keys wet, the pads will shrink and fall out and then it will sound awful!. This can also be really expensive to fix!. Keep the body of the clarinet dry at all times!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
