Question: Switching to drum line!?
i'm a junior, and i've been playing sax and clarinet for maybe 7 years!. and i can somewhat play mellophone!.

but anyways, i'm kind of getting bored with wind instruments!. and i think i'm falling in love with drums!. the drum line seems to have soooo much fun, plus it just seems like something more challenging!. i feel like i've peaked on my clarinet playing, like i've gotten as good as i'll get!. but the drums get me excited, and i envy them sooo much!.

i'm a girl, and i'm honestly not that strong, but if i were to practice, do you think i could switch to drumline!? i'm not sure what i'd play!.!.!.!.!.but anything would be fine! any tips!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Drums are awesome, but I also wonder if you could make the drum line as a beginner when you are a junior!. I mean you're up against drummers with years of experience and being sax player really doesn't give you any head start on being a drummer!. Of course you need to speak with your band director to see how he/she feels since it will be their call!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Would your band director let you switch so easily !? Don't they expect you to demonstrate some rudiments first !?

Yea, reading drum music is somewhat simpler because it is unpitched!. But you've got to have a sense of rhythm!. Otherwise, those notes will just fly past you in a blur !Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, I play quints for my drumline in high school, and I believe with an ample amount of practice you could play on it!.
Work on the rudiments!.!.!.google "Vic Firth Rudiments"
