Question: Self-Learn the guitar!? Tips!?
My mom is promising me to get an Acoustic guitar, and I don't have the time/money to get a teacher so I want to self-learn!. But I know nothing about notes, I'm good at judging beats cause I used to play the piano, but I also know nothing about guitars!. Can someone tell me where I can learn the basics and what the basics please!?

Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The best helper for learning is getting a GOOD guitar!. Yes, they cost more but the difference is not so much the sound as the neck action!. What this means is that the strings are high up off the fretboard on a kmart special type!. You will have to press the strings hard which will hurt your fingers very quickly!.They will become so sore very shortly you will throw it in a corner!. When you slide your fingers up and down the fretboard it is more of a push on a cheapo rather than a smooth slide!. These factors help you enjoy your learning and learn much quicker!. If you have something of an ear for music then just pick notes to match what is in your head!. The essentials that enable you to do this well is to learn your basic(used most frequently)chords first!. These usually are A, B7, C, D, E, F and G!. Don't worry about learning to read notes yet!. Use the chords to get your strumming and beats down!. But do take time out from serious study to just goof around and try to play whatever sounds cool to you!. A major plus that helps learning is an electric guitar and amplifier(small 10 watt amp is plenty)!. The sounds you make will enhance the fun factor which helps learning
quicker!. As a general rule a good acoustic guitar will cost a couple hundred and up!. I would suggest that you have someone knowledgeable do the choosing of which guitar to get!. It would be better to get a good one at a pawn shop than a brand new junker at walmart!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
