The Violin and Viola are very similar looking, but there are a lot of differences!. The viola and violin have three strings in common, but the viola has a lower string (the C String) which allows it to play four full steps lower than a violin!. I find the viola to be just a little darker in tone quality to the violin, but they are capable of playing virtually the same parts!. If your goal is to play by yourself, either one will work for you!. If you want to play in an orchestra, then know that these instruments play in different clefs!. The Violin plays in standard treble clef!. The Viola is the only instrument in the entire orchestra that plays almost entirely in alto clef!. This is perhaps the biggest difference between the two instruments and it causes most string players to stick with one or the other from the beginning!. If you've already started on viola, I'd stick with it and get really good!. Great violists are hard to find!. You can put yourself through school! Www@QuestionHome@Com

well the viola also has 4 strings, but it has one string thats lower than the violin's (C), and its missing the highest string on the violin (E)!. this means that the viola can play in a lower range than the violin!. the violin and viola also play in different clefs because of the different ranges!. the violin plays in a treble clef also known as a G clef), while the viola plays in the alto clef (also known as the C clef), which is slightly lower!. so violin and viola can do the same pieces of music as long as the range is not too high for the viola or too low for the violin!. i guess you could also transpose the music (rewrite the music by changing the key that its in) or put in an octave lower if the range doesn't fit on your viola, but it will sound different!.

hope that helps :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

different instruments have different pitch ranges!. the violin is capable of higher notes than the viola, but they are very similar!. depending on the notes you should be able to manage the halo theme!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
