Hi! Well, the shopkeeper is right!. That particular instrument comes from the factory with basically unplated hardware, which will definitely oxidize (and continue to do so)!. If the rust bothers you, either replace the hardware (not too expensive), or get a different guitar!. You could also try to dissolve the oxidation with a rust remover, and then coat the parts with silicone spray, but it would be a messy alternative!. Hope this helps!. It would help if you could post a photo of your guitar!.

Where is the rust!? Generally speaking, brand new guitars shouldn't be rusty, unless MAYBE they're intentionally made to look old and "vintage" -- but then there would be other signs, like faded or crackled finish -- and you would know before you bought it that you were getting a new guitar that's been made to look old!. Fender sells a line of new Stratocasters and Telecasters that are replicas of vintage instruments, complete with faded and "worn" finish, for example!.

If it otherwise looks new, and was sold to you as a brand new guitar, it shouldn't be rusty, and I would take it back and complain!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I just read the other answer and checked it out!.
It turns out he's 100% correct!. The stupid guitar comes with un-plated hardware!.
That is totally ridiculous!. I can't believe that any company would do such a stupid thing!.
It might look cool , but the hardware is going to keep on rusting and it going to cause you grief eventually!. Your sweat and body oils are just going to mess it up!. You'll have to clean it after every time you play it!.

If I were you, I'd take it back and go for one of the other strats that have the same pickups, but without the unplated hardware!. There are a few other Squiers with the humbucker at the bridge, but have standard chrome plating on the hardware!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This line of guitars have unplated hardware, so they definitely will rust!. Fender has been trying to tap into the "relic" market!. Lots of people try to make guitars look worn and older than they are because they think it looks cool!. I personally think it's a bad idea!. If the saddles rust, you won't be able to adjust them (that's bad)!. I doubt the store will let you return it if they special ordered it for you!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
