I would strongly recommend NOT buying a guitar online!. I don't know what it is with everyone wanting to do everything online!. why read books online when you can actually read the darn book!. or taking online guitar lessons!. It's just plain lame!. You can't learn guitar online well!. You can learn chords and stuff but you need a real person to show you!.

Anyway, enough ranting!.

Guitars are a very personal instrument, and you need to hold it in your hands and play it!. You need to find one with good string action, a nice neck, good sound!. Some guitars look nice but play like crap!. Some guitars look like crap but have fantastic string action!. Each and every guitar is different, even the same make and model can vary!.

I bought a Fender acoustic some years ago for about $200!. the one in the store played OK, but I got a new one in the box and it was seriously the worst playing guitar I've ever played!. You couldn't get a string bend to save your life and the action was so high and stiff it hurt to play it, even with fingers used to playing for (at the time) 30 years!.

That was the only time I've bought a guitar that I haven't played!. And I regretted it!.

The only time to buy one online is if it is something that you can't get normally in a music store or is such a high quality instrument, that you can almost be sure it will be made well!.(which I just had to do when I bought an Epiphone 1275 double neck electric guitar!. You don't normally find those in a store, even here in the San Francisco area!. Even then I had to see photos of it from every angle even down the neck to see the action before I bought it)

So do yourself a favor, go to your local music store and play every guitar they have that is in your price range!. Find the one that feels the best to your fingers!. (Make sure it is properly tuned, too!. If it is tuned low the strings will play easier, but when you tune it up it may get too stiff)!.
Then buy THAT guitar, whatever the brand!. Don't get another of the same model, get the display one you played!.
That way you'll be happy with your guitar and not get stuck with a piece of garbage!.

If you just HAVE to go online for it, go to guitarcenter!.com or musiciansfriend!.comWww@QuestionHome@Com

If you want one to learn on that isn't really nice, then I suggest Craig's List:

Just pick the city you're in and search the area!. You can find cheap deals for used guitars!. This is what I did and it worked out well!.
