Question: Acoustic guitar capo!?
Ok so i was wondering when playing guitar, lets say i want to play an F , do i put my finger on the third fret 4th string or finger on the 4th fret!? Some websites have picture of the notes on the guitar fretboard so it goes for example on the 6th string: E ESHARP F FSHARP G GSHARP and so on but when we play an F on the sixth string do i put my finger on the 1st fret or the second fret!. The more i looked into it it seems to me you only pay attention to the sharps and flats when using a capo and then when in open tune you ignore them so then the notes on the 6th string are E F G A B C and so on!. I am so lost!. I am so confused!. Anyway when i put a capo on the first fret i understand all the open strings go up half a pitch so then it Fsharp Asharp Dsharp Gsharp Bsharp Esharp!.So if am to play an Aflat, E, and E flat with a capo on the first fret where do i place my fingers!. Last but not least when i have my guitar on open tunning so with no capo, all the notes on the fretboard like so :
http://www!.heavymetaltravel!.com/Images/g!.!.!.

ok so for example the A chord i have on finger on fret 2 string 2, one finger fret 2 string three and one finger fret 2 string four!.So the fretted notes in this chord are c,a and f!?
anyways thanks in advance to all those who can somehow help me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The notes, in order from "A" are:

A A# B C C# D D# E F F# G G# and A again

B# is C and E# is F

In reverse you always work in flats:

A Aflat G Gflat F E Eflat D Dflat C B Bflat and A

Fflat is E and Cflat is B

On the 6th string, therefore, the notes are:

Open = E then F F# G G# A!. A is the fifth fret and also the same note as the fifth string!.

On the fourth string use the same formula:

Open is D then D# E F F# G(fifth fret)

If you use a capo on, say, the second fret, you have changed the tuning by a tone which is two of the notes at the beginning of this rather drawn out explanation (my apologies, by the way)!. If you are a chord player and you were playing something in C then the result of having the capo on the second fret (using the same chord shapes) would result in it being in the key of D (C C# D) = one tone or two semitones!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When using a capo, you play all chords just as you would normally, No changes at all!. The capo just acts as the nut!. so the the next fret above the capo, is always the first fret as in open tuning!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

bar the first two strings with your index finger then use your middle and ring to finish the F chord!. bar the 2, 3 ,4 string with your index to form an A chord, loose the capo for now!. check out http://www!.justinguitar!.comWww@QuestionHome@Com
