Question: Any guitar suggestions for beginners!?
I am about to take private guitar lessons, something I have always wanted to do!. I've played around on the guitar here and there, know a few chords!. I have an acoustic electric guitar but it is difficult to play!.
Do the type of strings you use affect the how difficult it is to play!?

also, I've been told that the action is too high and told that I can have that adjusted!.

Should I have the action fixed on my guitar or should I get a new one!.
What are some good, yet inexpensive, guitars for beginners to learn on!?

THANKS!Www@QuestionHome@Com

String gauge can make playing more difficult!. Lighter gauged strings will not require as much effort to press down or bend than heavier gauged strings!. Acoustic strings provided by manufacturers may be a bit heavier than you are comfortable with but they can be easily changed to a lighter gauged set!.

High action can make guitars difficult to play, especially for a beginner!. Depending on how serious you are about playing, you could consider buying a new guitar!. However, any local guitar shop should be able to adjust the action on your guitar quickly and cheaply (many places will do it free)!.

"Inexpensive" is pretty vague!. As a beginner, you may want to look at Fender Squire guitars or Taekamine has a low-end series as well (I think it's the g-series)!. You should be able to find a new one for around $200!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I take it you are playing on an acoustic guitar with steel strings!.!.!. they can definitely hurt your fingertips until you build up some callouses!. Yes definitely have the action taken down (that decreases the distance between the strings and the fretboard so you don't have to push too hard to make a nice sound) and then put extra light strings on your guitar!.

also, I recommend a wonderful 20 DVD guitar course that I am taking that is really great!. You go through about one DVD a week!. If you put in a week's practice between each DVD, you will be amazed at your progress!.- It's called "Learn and Master Guitar" with Steve Krentz!. go to http://www!.learnandmasterguitar!.comWww@QuestionHome@Com

if you have heavy strings then it can be harder to play and that is common on acoustics!. you can get a yamaha theyre good guitars and theyre not anything special so im sure they cant be too expensive tho!. what you need to know is when ur lookin to buy a guitar, expect it to be around $200 dollars to get a decent oneWww@QuestionHome@Com

Steel strings are evil! D:
Until your fingers harden, you won't be able to do much on your guitar!. I'd recommend any kind of acoustic guitar with nylon strings, and then work up to an electric!.
I have no idea what action is, but I'd recommend getting a new guitar!. Acoustics are cheap in comparison, so it's easy to find an affordable one!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yamaha pacifica is the ultimate guitar for beginners - its actually pretty good too!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ibanez kit for beginners is a good one to start withWww@QuestionHome@Com

Do yourself a favor, to give yourself a chance, and that will require a new guitar!.

The old one can not be used for so many reasons, including those you have outlined, such as high action!. That will discourage you from even getting started!.

Type of strings, like nylon are good, but nylon-strung guitars have necks that are too wide - they are the classical and spanish types!.

Yamaha usually has good acoustic guitars, and you would have to spend between $200 and $400 ($200 is okay) to get one that is built with good enough engineering to sustain low action, and resist climate changes, to not twist and warp, and make the strings go high again!. also, frets are sharp, and stick out from the sides on cheap guitars, with cheap hardwoods that dry out quickly!. they might have been okay when they left the factory!.

All you need is one good brand, such as Yamaha, but I've found that Dean is also good and acceptable!.

Rejects IMO include Fender, Squier and Epiphone in that same price range! They all seem to have flaws and are substandard, hard to play!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
