Question: Why do I hear overtones when I play the 5th note in a flute!?
I am trying to play a bansuri (a bamboo flute with 6 holes)!. I can play the notes Do Re Mi Fa fine, but when I get to the 4th hole or Sol, I cannot get it without blowing a little sharper!. Even then, I get notes from the lower octave mixed with it!. How do I change this technique!? also, how do I make finger movements steady when I'm moving from Fa to Sol!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi Parry

Practice makes perfect!. Practice what you are weak on , not on what you are strong in!. You have Sol issues, practice the fingering until it flows just as east as the other notes!.
The sharpness is probably a tuning problem!. This can be fixed but it demands a professional to tune it with the proper tools and proper filing method!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
