I'm not sure what you mean by adjust your strings!. Is he making an adjustment for the intonation, is he lowering the action!?

I've always adjusted the action myself and my guitar repair guy said he wouldn't even charge me to make a truss rod adjustment!.

Anyways, 60 dollars kind of sounds hefty to me unless he's doing a lot of adjusting!. I just had my guitar refretted and tuners replaced and it cost me 120!.

I would say just change your own strings!. You can lower the action yourself!. If the intonation is off, I guess you can fix that yourself,by doing a bridge adjustment!.I've never done it and would probaly have it done by a luthier, while he was at, have him "tune it up" so to speak!.

well since in the additional info your getting your action ajusted it is higher than a usual string change, I pay $15 plus price of strings for my guitar at a local shop, but it does cost more when your messing with the action- so I wouldn't pay more than $40!. ever!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

a set up for your guitar will cost between 40 and 60 everthing will be done that needs to be done from cleaning to adjusting !. changing strings setting intonation adjust truss rod set pickup height clean fretboard!.!.!.!.!. string cost included!. you can get it for 40 elsewhere!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you should look up on internet ,how to set up a guitar!. if you plan on really playing a guitar you best learn the basic set up!. a guitar
