Question: What is an Impressive piano song for talent show!?
My son is 16 and is really motivated to practice and excel!. His high school is having a talent show again this year and we are encouraging him to try out!. Any suggestions for a powerful song that is somewhat well-known!? We are thinking something not too slow because you know how these shows can go!. We don't want people looking at their watches or the program to see what is next!. We'd like to pick something that will be impressive and get their attention!. Thanks!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with the other answer about video gamee songs, they are well known and most of them sound interesting and are not that slow!.!.!.

also I'd like to recommend music from Yann Tiersen (La Valse d'Amelie or Comptine d'un autre ete)!.!.!. both of them are as much good songs as songs to show your son's skills off!.

Personally, I enjoy Beethoven's sonatas, as there are plenty of them that most of the people have heard at least once!. Try with Sonata Pathetique (op!. 13 nr 8) any of the three movements (I prefer the first one, being the most dramatic, expressive and exciting of them)!.!.!.

I don't know, there's a lot of music out there, but I wish him really good luck :D I play piano as well and I know how exciting it is to play :DWww@QuestionHome@Com

How good is he!?

Classical:
3rd movement 'moonlight' sonata - Beethoven
'revolutionary' etude - Chopin (I think this would be the best one!. Not too long, very fast and has plenty of loud moments - sure to impress in a talent show)
Flight of the bumble bee - Rimsky-Korsakov
Prelude in c-sharp minor - Rachmaninoff (Starts off slow, but it's popular and has a fast middle section)
Ballade no!.2 - Chopin (this would be quite funny!. It starts off quaint, quiet and not too impressive, then BAM!.)

If you're not looking for classical then perhaps some jazz!. I would recommend Gershwin's 1st or 3rd prelude!. Or, the mario theme tune because everyone knows it and it's a laugh!.

Good luck to him!
