It depends what style you're going for!.
If you're doing a rock sound, it's better to use a pick because it sounds harsher and allows for a more even block strum!. If you're going for the classical/jazz/acoustic, go with finger picking!. It's cleaner, prettier, less crowded!.

That's in my opinion, anyway!.
I was taught to just do what feels right!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

there are more famous players that use a pick Jimmy Paige, Steve Vai, blah blah lol but there are some players iwho dont use picks such as derek trucks who plays a gibson sg (slide guitar) so its really up to you usually without a pick is more acoustical and is usually used with a classical guitar while picks are with electric and rock most of the time if you really like rock stick with a pick but in my opinion its great to hit the ball to all fields (baseball metaphor) you should really learn to play and pick all types of ways and expand your guitar knowledge so i would go for without the pick for now and take the class so you can play all types of musicWww@QuestionHome@Com

Well I play, and I would much rather have a pick!. And seeing as most of the pros played with picks, I think picks would be more common or popular!. I cant think of any right now that played without a pick!. Well hope that helped!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
