Question: Epiphone Les Paul any good!?
The cost of a Gibson Les Paul is a little daunting for me!. I am wondering what guitarists think of the Epiphone Les Pauls!. What is missing on that model that makes it cost so much less!? Is the playing "feel" similiar!? Are the pickups any good!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Listen, its a good deal!.
Epiphone is just made of lower-grade materials such as the body wood and the electronics!. You can't really compare them to the Gibsons, but the Epiphone Les Paul Custom (aroudn 500$ I think) is similar or even better than the Gibson Les Paul Studio!.
Epiphones are decent, even an audio engineer I know uses one for recording!
Here's a clip of his playing:

As for pickups, no they aren't the best, however, that dosn't really matter!. The amp matters more soundwise, so focus on getting a better amp rather than new pickups!. I made my friends Epiphone Les Paul Special (its decent for only 200$!) scream, I used a 5150 and the pinchharmonics were clear and crisp!. The only thing missing in my opinion was a floyd rose for dive bombing :)

All in all, epi's are good value!. Even the Special II model, which is only like 200$, is decent! They aren't going to be the best of the best, but they are decent guitars!. It depends on the Les Paul though, I find the Custom Epi Les Paul to be the best one!. It's really great for the buck, people even compare it to the Gibson Les Paul Studio

Hope that helps, sorry its so long~

If you are not ready to invest in a Gibson, go with the Epiphone!. I have an Epi Special II, that after a few minor modifications on my part, is a fabulous guitar!.

The best part though, is that if anything should happen to it, it is more easily replaced than a Gibson, just because of the price paid!. Some people complain about the pickups, but I've had no trouble with mine, and through my Peavey amp, they sound great!.

Bought mine used for $60 and put a new $35 neck on it!. I added a zero fret and replaced the saddle (my own device; nothing invested)

I say, "Go for it!" You can always save for a Gibson Les Paul someday!.

The Pickups are great, I would say the quality is very close to the Gibson Les Paul, I have one problem with mine (minor problem) It goes a little out of tune after about 3 hours or so of playing, easy fix though:)!. The epi has great Sustain, tone, and tone! I reccomend it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

well epiphone uses much cheaper material and lower quality!. the playing may feel similiar but the sound of a real les paul is unparalleled!. if you can ,get a les paul with no gloss for 850 it is a great investment!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
