Question: I'm not sure what french horn mouthpiece to get!?
I'm not sure what size cup to get, shallow or double cup!? I'm expected to get up to above the staff c's in band, and I need a mouthpiece that will allow me to get up there a little easier!. Here's the mouthpiece I'm looking at: http://www!.musiciansfriend!.com/product/G!.!.!.

That one is a deep cup!. I think it might be double!.!.

Thanks for reading and hopefully an answer :]

well if you want easy high notes then you want a shallower cup and a smaller diameter!. But just having a small mouthpeice doesn't mean you have to use less air!. The equipment you are using is not magic and never will be!. It's still gonna take practice and skill!. From that picture the cup looks kinda deep on the G17!. Honestly I would recommend a Farkas MC its a decent cup size but there are many bigger mouthpieces!. I've got to question you situation saying you are expected to hit high C's!. Is this for marching band or concert band!? Are they occasional Cs or lots of them!? And you if get something too specialized for high notes thats all you will get!. Low register tone and accuracy will suffer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
