It is a great idea!. After sometime, you can get people to pay you for it!. It then becomes a lucrative hobby!. I don't have a degree and I didn't take private lessons!. I have most of my knowledge from orchestra class in middle and high school, internet (as of late), and other violinists!.

The hardest thing on the violin is the intonation (playing in tune)!. Learning that along with the concept of music and musical notation can be hard, but only the beginning!. Accept the fact that you will sound like crap until you don't!. I would suggest you start with a good teacher and practice schedule!. I developed some bad habits and I didn't practice!. I would be tons better if I had had either!.

I would suggest contact your good area orchestras that are right below the head honcho or city orchestras!. Most big city orchestras have players that give lessons, but that price is too steep for beginners (Don't pay more than $60 a lesson)!. I would suggest you go to the orchestra right below the best in the city!. Go to rehearsals or linger after a performance!. also word of mouth (from different people about the same person) is a good indicator!. Go to violin shops and talk to the sales people and other shoppers about teachers!. Many teachers have their cards available there!.

Definitely yes, but make sure you get something cheap to start with in case you don't keep going with it!. Violins and accessories, etc!. can be really expensive!. A teacher is a good idea too, but it's also possible to learn from a beginning violin book, and sometimes more fun, because then you don't have someone telling you what to do!. :DWww@QuestionHome@Com

It's a good idea to learn anything you feel passionate about!.
Some violinists 'play by ear' and some read music!. I would try searching your community for a good instructor!. A Music Dept!. at a local college may be a good resource as well and may offer lessons as well!. I'm not sure if that is something you can self study as an adult!. Maybe you could get an inexpensive violin and try getting the 'feel' for it!.

Violin / fiddle is a wonderful instrument!. Be sure you get a good teacher to get you started off on the right foot, so to speak, otherwise you run the risk of learning bad habits that will hold you back later!.

Go for it!Www@QuestionHome@Com
