Yes!. You would alternate pick (downstroke, upstroke, etc) for all the notes, even if they are all on different strings!. There are very certain cases when you wouldn't however, in the case of sweep-picking you would play all upstrokes for this case, all downstrokes going the other way!. But in order to be as proficient at normal string switching as possible, do it!. here's to sum it all up:

Yes, strum up-down-up-down!.

Unless you have a reason to do it otherwise!. (techniques etc)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Boy this is a confusing one, I think that your talking about tab, correct !? As for going up or down with the pick that depends on the way the music was written, you'll need lessons for that!. If your just talking about the numbers, they represent the strings of the guitar, if you have a 5 on the first string their saying that they want a finger on the first string fifth fret, with the 8 they want a finger on whatever string that it's placed on, the 8 it telling you in what fret to place your finger!.
I hope that this helped !Www@QuestionHome@Com

It looks like the tab your showing is a chord!. You would play all the strings probably down and at the same time!. For a better explanation of tab try downloading the free Ebook from http://www!.guitarleader!.com!. It will show you everything about reading tab and a lot more!. Tab is a really easy thing to learn after it's explained to you!. I'm not sure about your tab above it looks a little off or something!.!. Anyway hope this helped!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's hard to tell what the original tab looked like, but I assume all the notes are staggered!. Picking up, down, !.!.!.!. is the best way to go!. It allows you to pick quicker!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
