Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I have electrics, acoustics and a classical!. But my first real lessons where on the classical!. And I agree with your TEACHER and not THE GUY at the store!. Every guitar player should have some finger-picking in their arsenal and the sooner you learn, the better!. Classicals require more attention to technique and posture!. And it's a whole lot easier to start off learning the right way, than to correct bad habits later on!. And once you're ready to get an electric, you'll be able to make the switch pretty easy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Classical guitar is EXCELLENT for beginners, because it gives you discipline, requires that you read music, and gives you the foundations of posture and finger technique!. The instrument per se might be a little harder to play because it has a wider fingerboard; but nylon strings are much easier to press!.
