Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: first of all, to hotty101, picking a high pitch song probably wouldn't work seeing as thats NOT what altos sing!. =) secondly, some great alto songs for tryouts: im not that girl< from wicked< its really pretty and at can show off your voice awesome!. there are a few high notes in it, but they can easily be transposed down an octave without screwing up the song!. it also is great a capella, so no need to worry about a pianist!. just can't wait to be king< from lion king< its a great song that doesn't go too high!. its also faster and can show off a more bolder voice if thats what your going for!. its easy enough to jazz up and make memorable, too!. popular< from wicked< if your going for more of a distinct charachter role, this might help you out!. the lyrics and song make it easy to add a little acting into you singing part of the audition!. its also a quicker song, which directors are more likely to remember!. shall we dance< from the king and i< its a quicker waltz i don't need anything but you< annie< great show tune!. excellent potential to show off voice!. ******orange colored sky< not from musical!.!.< look it up!. its great and has got me 3 parts to date!. its big, classy, and its super easy to learn!. and it sounds better without a piano, so you can transpose it to whatever key works best for you!.
