the embrasure of a trumpet is differnt from that of a clarinet!. so that alone might be difficult to learn how to adjust ur lips in order to play (like it is for me)!. trumpets only have 3 valuves so the notes you play all depend on ur embrasure!. in my opinion, any instrument is difficult to play well till you master it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you have been playing the clarinet for 1 1/2 years!. right!? most clarinets, boys and girls but mostly boys, switch to a tast of more!.!.!.!.a tast of more(hypathetically speaking!.) they switch to the alto sax! yay! although clarinets switch to the bass clarinet too because it spreads along the low range!. but, if you pick the alto, make sure you pick the alto first because it is easier to play for a beginner, after you play the alto for a while, you can switch to the tenor, the baritone, or the soprano, but schools probably dont have a soprano in their school!. but if i were you i wouldnt do trumpet or anything in the brass section because reed players use their fingers and brass players use their mouths!. it will be a very hard change for you if you have been playing reed instruments and make the switch to brass!. but good luck to you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I play a clarinet, flute, tuba, baritone, piano, percussion, trombone, and i want to learn other instruments!. However I learned these on my own and i didn't find it hard!. I have attempted a trumpet but it is harder because my lips are bigger!. Never blow in with your cheeks puffed, always keep constant air flow, or you won't go anywhere!. I want to attempt a saxophone, and i think you should too, because going from clarinet to something else, a sax would be the best choice!. There are many varieties of them, they can put a little challenge for a clarinet player, but at the same time they are very similar!. If you want a real challenge you could attempt the oboe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

YES!!! It is much harder to play than a clarinet!. Getting the air to the mouth peice was my problem!. I puffed out my cheeks too, and that is a no no!. I played the clarinet as well, and the bass clarinet!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
