Not sure!. Different towns and cities have different local ordinances about "busking" (performing outside for tips)!. Some places allow it with no restrictions!. A lot of others allow it but require street performers to get a permit, and/or only allow performers to play in certain areas or during certain times of day!. Some towns and cities don't allow it at all and will arrest you for panhandling or creating a public nuisance or whatever if you accept ANY money at all for playing (even donations tossed into an open guitar case)!.

What I would do is check with the local Town Hall to find out what the local laws are and get a permit if one is necessary, if you're planning on playing on the street or in a public area with your case open!. If you're just sitting on your own front porch or back yard playing for fun with no case open to collect donations, then you should be OK without a permit -- just be sure your amp isn't cranked up too loud or you might get cited for disturbing the peace!. If you are planning to use an electric guitar, you may have a LOT of problems!. When people are busking, the use CLASSICAL or ACOUSTIC guitars!.!. they DON'T use ELECTRIC guitars, unless they want to be cited for violating NOISE ORDINCNACES!. It wouldn't surprise me if they even threw you off the Murray Docks for violating some ordinance about creating a public nuisance!.

Either play a REAL guitar or be prepared to not be too welcome with your electric one!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
