Hi Kelly

Congrats on deciding to play in the band :)) You are going to have fun!.

Well, if you don't have a preference for which to play, and are taking suggestions!. I would suggest the flute!. Here are some good reasons to consider!.

1!. Flute is very lightweight and easy to carry around!.

2!. Buy the flute and don't have other supplies to get!. For clarinet, you have to buy reeds (expensive) all of the time and cork grease, bore oil and swabs!. Always having to run to the store for something!.

3!. Flutes sit in the front of the band, so it is easy for parents and friends to see you at concerts!.

4!. Flutes have less keys to worry about so it is easier to learn the fingerings!.

5!. Flutes don't squeak or make funny sounds!. They either make a sound or they don't!.

6!. Flutes get to do vibrato and double tonguing (a type of special playing) while clarinets don't!.

7!. Flutes are pretty easy to learn!.!.!. and easier if you have some private lessons to get a good head start!.

8!. Flutes can play almost 4 octaves!.!.!. clarinets can't

9!. If you play flute, you can look forward to playing the piccolo (the tiny little flute family instrument- so cute) for marches and special music!.

10!. Flutes often get called stuck ups!.!.!. but that is OK, because they know they are the kewl ones of the band :)~

So there are a few advantages of playing flute in the band!.!.!. but I may be just a little bit predjudice!.!.!.as

I am a flute teacher!. :))

Thanks for reading!.!.!. and Kelly!.!.!. I am just giving you a few things to think about!. Girl, you choose the instrument you think you would love to play!. That is what makes band fun!.

I play the flute and am in middle school band and I love it!. But my Best friend plays the clarinet nicely!. I would say flute because you don't have to worry about reeds for the clarinet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
