Well, as someone who has graduated from more than one conservatory I can tell you that you have choosen a rather difficult one to get into!. My recommendation is that if you wish to be a vocalist at Juilliard start training with a private instructor, as they will have expected you to have done this!. Choir experience is great, but will not being to prepare you for the rigors of being a solo classical performer!. Juilliard is likely going to have you prepare three contrasting pieces (one in a foreign language!.) Your voice teacher should coach you through it!. In regards to theory skills, they will expect basic skills!. You will need to know the rudiments of music theory!. Likely, they will even test this either at the audition!. Juilliard has a weekend audition program, if I recall!. First day, you have initial audition!. Second Day, call backs, and theory testing!. If you have any more question feel free to contact me!.

In Manhattan also look at The Manhattan School of Music in NY state look at SUNY Potsdam!.

Others you really should consider!.

CCM
CCPA (Chicago)
Oberlin

well, for juilliard, you need to be able to read music i'm pretty sure, you also need good knowledge of theory!. if you're a singer, perfect pitch helps alot, but isn't mandatory, however you need to be able to carry a tune perfectly!!! and i mean perfect, you will be competing with the best of the best!. i've played guitar for years and sang too, and i used to aspire going to juilliard until i saw the requirements

if you are serious about attending such a conservatory, you may need to look at magnate schools for the arts in your area, or the interlochen school of the arts, or the idyllwild school of the arts!. there are plenty of good schools for performing in new york ( i mean colleges) such as NYU, Carnegie Mellon, and some others!.

There is also Berklee school of music, University of the Arts in philadelphia, the Boston Conservatory and many others!.

keep trying, and if you dedicate yourself to it i'm sure you can do it!.
