Question: How can i turn a 6 string guitar into a 7 string!?
I'm wanting to turn my 6 string Schecter into a 7 string!.

Do I need a wider neck for the seventh string or can I simply tack on another tuning peg and replace the bridge!?

If I do need a wider neck, will the wider neck still fit into the body of a 6 string guitar or will i have to widen the area that the neck of the guitar fits into the body by sanding or something!?

Do I need different pickups to be able to get a good sound out of the lower B string or will a regular 6 string guitars pickups work just fine!?

And what category does this question even belong in!?
Any information is greatly appreciated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A couple of people have said it!.!.!. buy a 7 string!.

Or!.!. you could do this!.!.!.

Buy 7 string neck!.
Would have to get new tuning keys!.
New bridge, as old one is set up for 6 string!.
New pick-ups!.!.!. as the ones you have now are set up for 6 string!.!.!.!. only have 6 poles per pickup
Route pick-up slots longer to fit new pick-ups!.
New nut, if not included with 7 string neck!.
And!.!. if its a string-through body set up!.!. would have to drill hole through body to accomodate seventh string!.

Probably missing a few things!.!. but!.!. you get the picture!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you look at the 7 string schecters out there the neck is a bit wider than the 6 strings!. If your really wanted to use your body and get a new neck you'd have to cut some of the neck to fit it in the slot!. I'd just buy a 7 string guitar and keep your as is!. It will look like crap if you try to modify it I'm sure!.!.!. Adding another string won't work either, considering you'll also need a new bridge and all that stuff!. too much work bud!. Good luck hope this helped!Www@QuestionHome@Com

One stupid question, sorry but it is!.
No you can't do that, you better buy another guitar, if you like your schecter go for a shecter damien 7!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You shouldn't!.!.!.!.matter of fact you just cant!. Even if you did succeed somehow it would be a piece of crap because the original guitar wasn't made for it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It would all be less trouble if you just bought a new guitarWww@QuestionHome@Com

it would be cheaper to just buy a 7 string than to modify the hell out of that schecter!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

try getting another string and attaching itWww@QuestionHome@Com

Don't bother!. Just buy a 7 string!. It'll be cheaper!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
