Every song is going to have its' own chord progression (jazz is all about harmonic progressions), but you may be thinking of ii-V7-I, which is a common cadence in jazz progressions!. It can be used to end a phrase, section, or the whole piece, and has sometimes been used (in extended forms) for the entire song!.
You may also be thinking of a blues progression, which is based on I-IV-V (12-bar blues is I(4 bars)-IV(2 bars)-I(2 bars)-V-IV-I(2 bars))
