Question: I would like to go to Juilliard!. What do I have to do in order to be accepted!?
I have dreamed of Juilliard as long as I can remember!. I want to go there for vocals!. I have been singing for as long as I can remember and I have had some sort of vocal training!. I am about to be a high school junior soon and I don't want to waste any time now if I don't have to, so I was wondering if anyone knew what I would have to do in order to be qualified to go to Juilliard!. It would be of much help to me!. Thank you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

All the requirements are posted on their website!. Even with EXTENSIVE previous vocal study, you have a VERY VERY VERY slim chance of being accepted into their vocal department!. You do realize that ALL the training there is classical - you would be studying arts songs and opera, in many different languages!. You need EXCEPTIONAL academic grades, an incredible resume and portfolio, and must have already won EVERY possible honor appropriate for singers you age - membership in every honors choral and vocal groups offered in your region, state, and national, extensive performing experience of a LEGITIMATE classical nature (being in your HS musical does NOT count for anything in Juilliard's opinion)!. Realize that they have MANY international students who arrive with recordings already professionally done and distributed on prestigious classical labels, and have professional management - BEFORE they arrive there!. I have a former student who just graduated there this past year (i taught her vocal music, and she graduated with a degree in horn) and she is not accepted into the graduate program there!.

Juilliard may NOT be the right school for you!. I am sure that there IS a right school for you - please do not *put all your eggs in one basket* - explore many possibilities!. Continue to study privately with the FINEST serious teacher you can find, and also take piano lessons - as a singer, you will need them!. Work intensively on solfege and theory, and keep ALL your grades up!. Enter all the competitions you can, and STAY AWAY FROM BOGUS TALENT SHOW GARBAGE, and so-called reality shows!. I wish you luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You have to have TONS of TALENT and YEARS of TRAINING and experience and if you don't have either or both, then you have no chance at all!.!.!. but what the heck!.!.!. you STILL have to AUDITION!.!.!. so you may make it!.!.!. but you won't get in WITHOUT an AUDITION!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
