Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Practice (of course!.) Keep your fingernails short! I don't know if you have long fingernails but keep them short it's impossible to play with long ones, I've tryed! Try to stretch your fingers for chords!. Listening to the piece of music your trying to play before you play it helps alot (unless it's Jazz!.) You have to put feeling into what your playing!. Try to learn how to read notes, chords, and TABS!. Try getting used to using your pinky for notes like F#, it makes things easier ( F# is on the 4th fret-dunno if I spelled that right =P!.) Listen to your teacher!. Practice picking eighth notes (picking up and down!.) Scales are useful!. Wear short sleeved shirts or roll up your sleeves when you play!. Your sleeves get in the way!. Don't leave your guitar in hot places, it melts the glue on the guitar!. Well that's all I can really think of so, Good Luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com Learn the chords first, the most easiest being the main chords on the first 3 frets!. Afterwards, the chord progression, or sequence of playing!. Then start picking randomly each string for each chord and pretend like you're playing a song!. I really like doing that!. Then you can learn how to play simple tunes by either sheet music or tablatures!. Then when you start lessons, you will have a basic idea, and hopefully, if you have really worked at it, will already have beginning callouses on your fingers!.
