Hello K!. I have information from my woodwind repair technician (for 30 years) that using bore oil on a wood instrument is not recommended!. He says the reason being is bore oil is inorganic!.!.!. chemically based!. The wood, itself is organic and should be treated with an organically based oil!. His preverence is almond oil!. Just a couple of drops will do nicely!. Normally, he has the instrument apart and satuates the wood completely, inside and out!. He allows it to sit on a paper towel so the oil can penetrate!. Usually in about an hour!.!.!. if the wood is really dry, it will soak up!.!.!.!. but what has not, he wipes it with a soft cloth!. You can only do that with the barrel and bell!. Now to your question, his advice to me was use a little oil about every eight weeks or when you see your clarinet beginning to dry out!.!.!. Hope that helps!.!.!.!. Thanks for reading!. : ))Www@QuestionHome@Com
