Question: What should I look for when buying a Viola!?
I'm going to begin playing the Viola next year in orchestra at my school(we just got one yay)!. I already know I'll most likly continue playing and won't get bored!. I played it once in elementary school but switched schools and went to band X_X!. Now to get with the question!.

I really want to purchase a viola before the year begins, so I need to know what to look for!. I've read on several websites that all the accessories(tailpeice, etc!.) should be ebony and the sides should be made of maple!. What price range should I look for!? Any makers or brands that I should stay away from or look into for good quality!? What about bows!? I read brazilwood might be good!. also used or new!? If used what should I look for to make sure it's going to last a few years!? I need something that will last at least 5 years!. What are your thoughts on buying online!? Just give me all the information and things of your experiences as you can please!.

Thanks in advance for all your help and advice!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Finally! Another violist! I would suggest a student quality instrument!. Meisel is a nice brand that you can find at a local music shop!. I have a Meisel viola that is about 2 and a half years old!. The tone is rich and beautiful and playing set-up is easy!. Mine was about 900 dollars and included the viola, bow and case!. Whatever you do don't buy one from ebay or amazon! Find your price range!. For $1,000 you can find a nice set up!. I suggest finding a local luthier!. Potters Violins in DC is a great place!. They have great instruments and will ship quickly!. www!.pottersviolins!.comWww@QuestionHome@Com
