Question: Private lessons on the clairnet!?
My band teacher sent out a email to the clairnet section in our band!. Apperently no one is taking private lessons, and it's a first that no one is!. He told us that Wind Ensemble is going to be a challenge, and that we should be taking private lessons!.

Okay, sorry for the long intro!. How much do private lessons normally cost!? How often should I take them!? What would we do in private lessons!? How do I find someone to take lessons from!?

Thanks in advance!Www@QuestionHome@Com

HI Me!!!!! :)) Your band director knows his stuff and is trying to make his band the best by having the very best players!. Good musicians = Great Band!. And to do that!.!.!. private lessons are the MOST important factor!. In our city, you cannot be in the Wind Ensemble unless you are taking private lessons!. They cannot force anyone to take lessons, but those who don't get placed in the last band!.!.!. not very exciting in terms of activities or music!. OK!.!.!.!. so you want to know how much the lessons will cost!. Depending on the teacher, the lessons can be anywhere from $10 a session to $50!.00!. Don't want to scare you away by the price, but I don't want you to be totally surprised either!. I charge $24!.00 for 45 minutes which is right in between!. In private lessons your teacher should begin by assessing your strengths and weaknesses and get to work on things that will improve your playing!. You should work on tone and on scales!. The teacher should assign Etudes and get you started on a solo and also have you work on sight reading and rhythm exercises!. The teacher might ask you to bring some music that the band director would like you to work on for fall tryouts!. So that is how you begin to make progress!.!.!. and win that 1st chair position!. :) In most cases, lessons are given once a week, but if your parents could afford twice a week, I am sure the teacher would accomodate you!. As mentioned, call the local colleges to see if there are students wanting to teach lessons but if you could, it would be better to get an established teacher!.!.!. as they HAVE taught lessons and know exactly what they are doing!. Ask your band director!.!.!. I am sure he has contacts!. also check with music stores in your area!.!.!. teachers are always leaving their names on the teaching list!. Another avenue is craigslist!.org in the Services catagory > Lessons/Tutoring!. Hope that I was able to give you some good sound advice!. Don't give up your music!. :))Www@QuestionHome@Com

i used to take clarinet lessons, and i payed about $70 a month, and had one lesson a week!. in private lessons the teacher would help to improve your technique, tone quality, if you had questions on your music in your wind ensemble they would help you work through that!.!. the teacher would probably give you different pieces of music to work on!.!. like clarinet solo music!. my teacher also helped me get into competitions with other players!.!. private lessons really help you improve as a player!. if you can do them you should!.!. to find someone, you could ask your director, or search on the internet for teachers in you area!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You will find a private teacher in the closest music department/college in your town!. Many music students give lessons on various instruments!. You might also contact a preparatory school in your town!. Does this info help!? Good luck!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
