Question: Hi!I'm playing Penny in my school play hairspray 4 next year!. What should I wear besides the pigtails!? HEELLP!

Penny traditionally wears a jumper (often a plaid jumper) with a white blouse underneath (traditionally with a Peter Pan collar)!. Like most of the cast, she also wears white saddle shoes or any other shoes that might befit the era!.
She may also wear a light blue skirt and white blouse--this is how Penny dresses in the original John Waters movie!.
[Later in the show, she wears a "P" on her blouse (to show the world that Penny Pingleton is positively, permanently punished)]

However, it might also be helpful to watch the latest Hairspray film (in which Penny is played by Amanda Bynes) to get more styling tips!.
also, I believe they sell Penny Pingleton costumes on-line that you can order if you can't find something you already own that fits Penny's character!.

One last thing, in each version of Hairspray (80s movie, Broadway show, and movie musical), Penny is constantly chewing or sucking on something!. In the 80s movie, it is a fireball/jawbreaker; in the musical, it is bubble gum; and, in the movie musical, it is a lollipop!. Any of these items may also add to your character!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
