Question: I found a King trumpet and the bell has a dent!. Can it be fixed !?

Yes it can be done V!.!.!.!.

Their is a special flexible tubing inserted in the bell and hammered very lightly from the outside!. Their is a special cloth place on the bell so as not to scratched it!.

Obviously, with this type of job, the bell often has to be re-lacquered!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Absolutely! Brass is a fairly soft metal which can usually be repaired fairly easily!. Depending upon the shape and size of the dent, and the finish of your trumpet, you may or may not be able to see any "scarring" or evidence that there was even a dent there!. The repairperson will use specially shaped bell mandrel, along with other "tools of the trade", to help re-shape your bell!.

Find a reputable brass instrument repairperson in your area!. Perhaps there's a large music store with a good repair department near you!? If not, please tell us the general vicinity of where you live, and perhaps we can offer a suggestion!.

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, most dents in a bell can be fixed, often very nicely!. The harder ones to fix are in the valve cases and the tubing!. Call any serious instrument store and inquire about it!. I had dent insurance on my Benge, and I needed to use it! =(
I was very grateful that the dent was fixed so well!.

Enjoy your beautiful trumpet!! I'm jealous!. =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I know nothing about Musical instruments, but I am an auto body technician, so I know a little bit about dents! I have removed dents on thin aluminum and stainless trim pieces that were on older cars!. You should call a few automotive restoration shops, explain your situation, they might look at you like your insane at first ,but business is business!. There is also a book on automotive trim called "restoring automotive trim" from MOTORBOOKS!.com!. You shouldn't attempt it yourself until you read that book or one like it!. I know you probably think I'm insane for talking about automotive trim, BUT whats the difference, really!? Its still a thin sheet of metal formed to create something!. Whether its brass, copper, aluminum, steel or stainless steel, when they are dented they can be straightened 90% of the time, but if its a bad dent, it might only come out 95% perfect!. As crazy as it sounds, an instrument repair shop may be able to fix it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
