Yes it is a good combo, but the faded series of Les Pauls and SG have quality issues, such as poor, sharp protruding frets, and neck shrinkage!. They can be returned or repaired at your cost with a fret dressing!. Don't bother expecting warranty if mail order, okay if buy in person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

So in theory this is a great combination!.

My concerns:
All the best sounding Marshall's and amps in general are Tube amps!. I don't think this is a tube amp!. It's nice because it's powerful and has the digital effects, but if you don't have that warm core tone there (tubes provide that), then all the effects in the world won't help!.

You're better off, IMHO, to get a more straight ahead tube version of a Marshall and then add effects that you want as you go!.

also- Gibsons are way overrated these days!. People pay a premium for the Gibson name on the guitar, not for the worksmanship itself, which has fallen off a lot!.

If you want a good SG type guitar look at the ESP Ltd Viper- it should be a much better made guitar for the money!. It's actually $100 cheaper than the Gibson!.

ok!. this is my opinion based upon my use and ownership of those products!.!.!.!. that amp is o!.k!. for the price !.!.!. it is not a tube amp and does not have as much gain or sustian as a tube amp!.!. but it sounds fine!.!.!. the clean channel on it , i find useless, for switching between!.!.!. it is a treble sounding combo!.!. lead sound!.!.!. as for the gibson sg!.!. that is the low end of the sg's!.!.!. i would not buy one, as i have used much better gibson sg's before!. i have been using the esp viper 400, and i find it better for the price better in playability, and quality and sound!.!.!. so the only gibson sg i would get is the guitar of the month coming in december, ,like the sg diablo!.!.!. the esp vipers compare to the high end gibsons, with a easier price!.!.!.!. also those 4/12's are easy to carry for 1 person, but are you going to carry it all over town!.!. mabey a 2/12 combo would work for you!.!. i don't know, i use a full stack!.!.!. before spending money go play this stuff!.!.!. and try out the esp and mabey other brands of amps!. although i do like my marshall!.!.!.!.!. for the price!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd rather get a les paul but the cheapest one is 100 dollars over your bugdet unless you become like me and get a epiphone les paul!. but it looks goodWww@QuestionHome@Com
