Question: How can I be like a diva!?
The girls from the vocal department hate it when I call them 'divas'!.!.!. But what they don't know is that I'd commit murder to be able to have that aura which one normally associates with divas!.

I'm a pretty decent cellist, but I want to take my performance to the next level!. I want to not just play well, but also exude awesomeness onstage!. Any ideas!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think it's something sort of magical!. You might have to make a mental shift, though!. You're thinking about "me"!. What you have to do is to truly love your audience (them), and to do it intensely and with conviction, and consistently!. Make your cello playing an emotional act of love that you do for your listeners, and go through the emotions with them!. I guess a "diva" is just a word!.
Oh, also it matters a lot what you do after you play, in your daily life!. You have to "live the dream"!. It is there where you gain admirers, since it's not only the cello playing that they admire, also the person!.
I would recommend reading books about charisma!. And read biographies about charismatic people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Stick to improving your performance skills!. After working professionally with singers for over 30 years, I can tell you that DIVA is just a synonym for another word that starts with B!. Snotty, foul-tempered, and having a HUGE over-estimation of their talent!. When ability can't get them in the door to audition, they think that attitude can!. Well, my most-used line (from the piano bench - thirty-plus years on that bench with ALL kinds of singers) is "Honey, your behavior is writing checks that you talent can't cash!." This is said with a very level look in their direction!. I have NEVER had any problem thereafter!. One smartie cracked me up when she realized I was right, with "Wow - they were gonna name a toilet paper after you, but you don't take **** off anybody, do you!?"

Go practice!. Consider the greatest cellists you know!. THEY PLAY - they don't act like Kimora!. Yo Yo Ma - yes!. Kimora - no!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You might want to try selling your soul to the Devil!.!.!.I hear that works quite well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If I were you I would go to www!.confidenceclub!.net I really liked this site!. Try taking the questionnaire and then go from there! You have to create a profile but it's for free!. Here are some other ideas!.

Smile!. It will put you and the audience at ease!. Few people can resist this friendly gesture when it is sincere!. You can build allies this way before your performance even begins!.

Move!. Standing glued to one spot will make you seem uncomfortable!. No matter how goofy or spastic you may feel, it's better than looking frightened and amateurish!.

Take on an alter ego!. Give this persona all the characteristics your rock star self should have!. Improve your perceived flaws by ignoring them altogether!. You may be afraid, but your persona can be fearless!. Give it a name!. Beyonce calls her alter ego Sasha!.

Make eye contact!. You have to connect with the crowd!. Choose a few friendly faces to focus on!. You may want to ask friends or family to attend your first few shows for this purpose!.

Cover your mistakes!. To develop confidence for stage performance, you have to know you can recover from anything!. Minimize your mistakes as best you can!. The audience is likely not to even notice if you don't overreact!.

Practice!. Your confidence for stage performance will get stronger with experience!. You'll understand what to expect and become more adept at handling surprises!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
