Question: Im a girl and can only sing guy songs!?
I'm a girl but whenever I try to sing a song published by a girl it gets too high and I cant sing it!.

I can sing any song that a guy can sing (modern, not like the high pitched guy voices from the 80's)!. Why!?!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

That's because you're probably an alto!. I'm an mezzo, and I find that I can belt out a pop song in alto range, but when it gets high and girly I have to use my falsetto!. You're probably about the same, maybe more on the alto range altogether!.

Oh, and honestly, I sang tenor for a choir once because there was only one guy and I was able to hit most of the notes!. It might not be common, but it's not bad!. Besides, I heard somewhere that girls with lower voices (altos) and men with slightly higher voices (tenors) do better in the music industry, just because they're stronger singers and that range resonates better or something!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The most probable answers are: you are an alto singer or just haven't explored you're head voice yet!.Your vocal muscle are simple "thicker" than other girls!. I'm a countertenor and when I started singing I asked myself the same question!. I could only sing girl songs!. But don't get too self conscious about it!. I started with a very small and very high vocal range but only when I forgot myself in the music did my vocal range grow larger and eventually lower too now i can mange 3 octave and three notes from tenor to a soprano high D!. The only thing is constant practice what good teacher that doesn't stain your vocal chords!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I feel your pain!. Before I was studying music, sometimes I could sing high, and then the next minute I couldn't!. It all came down to recognizing what I was feeling!.

Many untrained singers think that they cannot sing as high as they really can!. It's all about accessing head voice, which for some people comes harder than for others!.

As a Mezzo, my upper passagio (the break before pure head voice) happens around a D, but I still have nearly an octave beyond that!. For some people, that break feels akward (really, how often do we use that part of our voice when speaking!?), and so they try to strain to reach the notes!.

Picture the sound being full and clear, and just let it come out!. Controlling it is one of the worst things you can do because it causes tension!.

Tension + tightened vocal chords = sore throat, possible injury with overdoing it!.

I like to picture the notes coming straight up though the area around my soft palate, and out my nose!. Sounds strange, doesn't it!? Well, our sinuses are the resonating chambers for the human voice!. Unlike a trumpet, we don't have a bell, or a bowl like a guitar!. Keep everything relaxed to take full advantage of the space, and don't think that it takes more effort to sing high!. Picture the sound floating out, and it will become easier with time!.

Helpful exercises to open up your head voice include yawning (Yes! easy), and imitating a siren!. Scoop from your lowest note up to the highest, and back down, all while keeping things effortless!. Note: this is actually a warm-up technique we use ALL THE TIME!.

Really, you could just be one of those lucky few with a rich low range, but you probably have the potential to sing nearly as high as you like!.

Yeah, I've sang everything from Tenor to Soprano as I was needed for various choir!. There's nothing that feels better than a rich low note vibrating deep in your chest!. But, once you learn how to sing high notes with ease, it's just as much fun!.!.!.

well, nearly!. ;)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't worry about it!. Like the other person said, people have varying voice ranges!. Just know that you can always transpose a song into a lower key!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, you can sing whatevery your heart feels like it, as for why that happends, who knows!? See it as the random and twisted ways of good Ma' Nature!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Some girls have high voices and some girls have low voices and it's perfectly normal!. Just look at Pink, her voice is low but it's really pretty!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
