I just got a boss-ML2 (metal core) and it sounds great on solos and high pitched notes but power chords and palm mutes have very little gain even with the distortion and highs turned up!. But I dont think the pedal was really designed for old school metal!. Does the metal zone have a more 'metallic' sound than the metal core!? I want the palm mutes to have a good crunch and high frequency buzzing power chords similar to 80's thrash metal!. Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

But anyways, it might be your amp or pedal controls!. but if not, my friend once brought his metalzone over to my house, and the gain was sick, but there was way too much feedback!. If you have the money you could get a line 6 spider, and put it on the metal setting, which has some sick gain!. Btw if the metalzone costs that much, and so does the spider, why not get an amps tone instead of a pedals!. Using a pedal on my SS amps sounds very "contained, or muffled" for some reasonWww@QuestionHome@Com The metal zone will give you as much or more gain than you will ever need!. Feedback comes from pumping the gain up too much!. If you have high output pickups, like I do, you shouldn't have to turn the gain up past 1/2 way!.!.!. just like with most distortion pedals, turning the gain up more than halfway adds a lot of noise which directly translates into feedback and sounding like poo!.!.!.!. sounding muffled, perhaps, is because of this!. When I've used mine, I don't turn the gain up past 1/4th!. Seriously!. Maybe my pickups are hotter than yours, I dunno, but I get all the gain I need at 25%!. Of course, I prefer the sound of my Mesa Boogie TremoVerb!. No contest!.!.!. An EQ pedal is a great idea, too, for the most flexibility!. SaulWww@QuestionHome@Com To a point, it will depend on what other equipment you're using - amp, guitar, pickups, and even string gauge!. Still, my very first pedal was an MT2, and at the time I was big into Metallica and such!. I found it did a pretty good job in front of an inexpensive practice amp!. If you can, I'd recommend getting a good EQ pedal too (I'd particularly recommend the MXR M108, which is endorsed by Kerry King)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com |
