Question: Somthing just happened to me yesteday!.!.!.!?
im an patient for OCD(obsessive complusion disorder) on the point of being terrified of people, so as you can guess, im a exremely shy person!. i usually only sing to myself when im all alone, but i always dreaded my voice, i think its too deep and masculine and sounds uneven and weird, but yesterday i was telling my dad about this preformance on star search (its like german version of american idol) and he asked how did the song go, so i actually sang about three lines for the first time to anyone but myself and i surprised myself on how my voice sounded!. it was clear and smooth and beautiful, i never heard it that way before!. my dad is a amazing singer, do you think that im starting to enherit his talent!? im 14 and a half right now, and i sing alone to myself everyday!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Everyone has a unique voice and can sing!. There are two types of people!. Those who think they can sing, and those who think they CAN'T sing!. But the truth is everyone CAN sing!. My advice is for you to get a guitar and learn some basic chords, then sing along to your favorite songs while you play!. You'll get lost in it and it is very very good for your soul!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Record yourself and listen back!. We all sound good to ourselves as we're singing, you need to hear it in silence!.

If you are brave enough, play it for some others and ask what they think!. maybe do the old trick of "listen to this, a friend gave it to me, what do you think of him!?"Www@QuestionHome@Com

wow well everyone thinks there voice is bad at least i do to!. but yes i think you might be inheriting his traits either that or you had a good voice to start with you just never had a second opinionWww@QuestionHome@Com

Practice makes perfect!. If you enjoy singing and practice, odds are you'll improve!. (Guitar hero Eddie Van Halen noted that if you don't like to practice playing the guitar, you don't really want to play the guitar or won't be able to do it well!. It's been a while since I read the interview, but this is the gist of it!.)

A suggestion: Tape record yourself singing!. Grade your performance!. What's the lowest note that you can sing well!? Highest note!? (The national anthem is notoriously difficult to sing because of the range between the lowest and highest notes; try it in the key of G!. I'm more of a player than a singer, but I can hit the highs and lows for this!.)

Playing the guitar and learning easier songs first will help!. You're not going to become great in a week!. Songs you learned by heart when you were younger, eg, "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain," will take the worry about the lyrics out of the equation since you can just repeat the same line while changing the notes you're singing!. (Don't do this in front of your friends, but if you can tape yourself singing such a song perfectly, you'll have made a giant step forward!. You can probably find a computer software program for free which will allow you to record yourself right through the computer's microphone!. Plus, easy to delete your lesser efforts!.!.!.although you may want to save a "before" version, then later record an "after" version to see how much progress you have made!. Plus, you'll know just what you need to work on and what parts you can do fairly well!.)

Old saying: If you want to be able to do difficult things easily, first you must learn to do simple things perfectly!.

You don't inherit practicing from your father, although it does seem that it wouldn't hurt that he's a talented singer!.

Tip: If you have to consciously think about what the next words in the song are, you need to work on it so that it comes out effortlessly!. Practice singing with the lyrics printed out in front of you and over time they'll come naturally, much like you learn the phone number of a new friend, especially a girl friend!.

Don't sing quietly like someone singing along with a song on the radio!. Get in the shower and sing, "La" as loud as you can!. (Do this while showering so you don't look like an idiot!.) This will get you in the habit of singing from deep down inside you as opposed to singing a song really quietly from your throat!.

Got a piano!? Find middle C, then play that and all the white keys (black keys are sharps/flats; the C major scale - do re mi fa so la ti do - has no sharps or flats) up to the next C, an octave above middle C!. Learn to sing it forwards and backwards!. (Tip: look at the scale as 4 groups of two - do-re mi-fa so-la ti-do - as opposed to 8 individual notes; this will help you remember the names of the notes, eg, do re mi, etc!. Then do it in reverse!. This sounds simple!. It isn't!.)

Another memory tip: Do re mi fa do fa (eg, the middle C and the next 3 notes: C D E F C F) are the classic country bass pattern!. The last 4 notes (so la ti do so do) are the same pattern, but higher up on the piano (G A B C G C)!. Ask a friend with a piano to help you with this if you aren't familiar with piano notes!. You'll recognize this riff instantly!.

As it so happens, I know a bi-polar guy who can fix a car, paint a room, all kinds of things, but he has trouble singing and playing the guitar!. I'm trying to teach him to sing "Do Re Mi" (from "The Sound of Music") along with me!. At the mome, he's painting my bathroom!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
