So a !.013 is usually a B string on a !.010 set!. So it's definitely not too small!. It's a large string actually for your high E string!. I know some rock players use 9's, 10's, 11's and some guys like Stevie ray Vaughn and Henry Garza (los lonely boys) play 12's or 13's on their strats, but that is unusual!. Acoustics and Jazz arch tops usually start at a 12 or 13 (!.012 or !.013)!.

So a !.013 should work, but your neck tension may be off a little because you'll probably be using the same gauge on the B string!. Many guitar necks won't register this difference but some will and may need minor adjustments to the bridge or neck's truss rod!.

If you have a Floyd rose tremolo you'll probably have all sorts of tuning problems, even some intonation problems!. With a strat type floating tremolo, you'll be able to screw it in a little on the treble side and be OK!. The easiest transition is if you have a hard back guitar!.

Anything is possible with guitars, just experiment and see what works for you!. A note: if you keep breaking the high E, you may need to carefully file the bridge on that string and get rid of any ridge formed from prior playing!. also a lubricant, like Big Bends Nut Sauce, can be helpful!. Lastly, you may want to switch from 10's to 11's- it will be more balanced to have a consistent set instead of the two 13's!. It will be harder to play the 11's set at first, but you'll quickly develop the strength for it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
