Question: How do you strum a guitar with no pick!?
I thought it would be easy, but it's not really!. People say just use your index finger or your thumb as a pick, but when I do that it sounds way different on the upbeat than it does on the downbeat!. The nail makes it sound really different and not that pretty!. How would you get around that inconsistency!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Use your thumb for the down stroke and your first finger for the up stroke if you want the soft sound and reverse that if you want the harsher sound of a nail/pickWww@QuestionHome@Com

Take yourself to your local music store and buy some picks!.

They're really cheap -- like between $!.25 to $!.50 each at most -- so for a couple of dollars you can get a nice assortment of different gauges and types of picks to try out and see which ones you like best!.

The other alternative is to learn to fingerpick and not strum!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just some suggestions:

Use a credit card!.
Use a popsicle stick!.
Use a quarter or some other coin!.

You get the idea!? Use something small and rigid replacing the pick!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
