Question: I want to be a full-time musician, but i need advice!.!.!.!.help!!?
I'm 25 years old and I'm not getting any younger!. I feel I'm a pretty good guitar player, and have played with some great musicians!. Music is my life!. I need advice on how to start a career in music, such as me picking up everything i have and moving to a big city like New York to pursue it!. I'm not saying I want to be famous, I would just love to a be a full time musician playing 5 or 6 nights a week, making around $200-$500/night, if possible!. Has anyone ever tried doing this!? How was the outcome!? What are my chances if I'm good and meeting great musicians!. I know once you get into the gigging scene like I am right now by word of mouth, you get more gigs the more you play!. But what I really want to do is play jazz 5 nights a week in a city like New York, where there is plenty of opportunity!. How do I get started!? You only live once and I feel time is slipping away, and I definitely don't want to sit in this office anymore, and playing is all i want to do!. help!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The best thing I ever heard in college was from Dr!. Mitch Fennel,!.!.he said "There are 2 keys to success, 1!. find your star, 2!. follow it!"

you've already got #1 figured out bro,!.!.!.!.so on to #2 (no pun)

Most working musicians (myself included) do private lessons to supplement their income!. Wanna tour!? do you like cruise ships!? Cruise ship lines almost always have a house band and a variety of ways that they hire them, sometimes they hire an already established working band-other times they hire a bunch of session players & throw music at them!. its decent money if you can get in the door!. Its sometimes better to stay away from the big cities (cuts down on competition)!. if you have a college degree, you can substitute teach which leaves you evenings free to pursue other musical goals + you make your own schedule and can qualify for health insurance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
