Wouldn't you rather see Christine end up with the Phantom than that pansy Raoul!? I think the Phantom is very sexyWww@QuestionHome@Com

Of course I would rather see her end with the Phantom, he's so much better than that fop Raoul!. He's talented, mysterious, sexy, and sensitive! After I have him go to counseling for homicidal tendencies he's mine lol ^_^!. Anyways I would love for her to go with the phantom but that would ruin the ending, in the ending the phantom let's her go which shows that he was truly able to love her so much he was able to let her go and sacrifices his own personal happiness for her ability to have a life he could never give her!. Both endings have their merits either way Andrew Lloyd Webber should not make a sequel!!! Gah!!!! *Sends band of rabid squirrels after him* Lol sorry that was completely random HYPER! XDWww@QuestionHome@Com

Actually, I'm glad that it turned out the way it did!. Most people want her to end up with the phantom, because that is who the audience sympathizes with!. He is the victim of unrequited love, and they feel sorry for him!. This is actually the reason that I'm glad she didn't end up with him!. It would change the entire story and the whole meaning!. The play is about love that is not given in return, and if she had gone with him, this powerful work of art would be reduced to something resembling a cheesy Hollywood movie!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As much as I love Erik (that's the Phantom), I'm going to have to disagree here!.

For one thing, Erik may be a great and very deep character, but he's still a murderer, a kidnapper, a stalker, and a pedophile!. In the original Leroux novel, he isn't fully sane, either!. If Christine stayed with Erik, could she really be fully happy!?

For another, Raoul is not a pansy!. He's a sincere sweet brave guy who genuinely loves Christine, and would die for her!. And she does love him!.

Finally, isn't that the whole point of PotO, for us to sympathize with Erik's unrequited love!? I, for one, don't think I'd love the musical half as much if I weren't in tears at the end!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You know, i agree partially with the answer above me!. I do think that if she had gone with the phantom, it would have changed the whole meaning!. However, I do understand the sympathy that people feel for the phantom, because his beauty is on the inside instead of the outside!. If Christine had really loved the phantom, it would not have been a tragedy!. Yes, she did leave with Raoul, but if she loved the phantom, he would have known it, and if he had Christine's love, he would die happily!. But in reality, he did not have Christine's love, and that is part of the reason why the story is such a tear jerker!. You see that the phantom does not have a bad soul, he just wanted to be loved for himself, and Christine certainly has a kind enough heart to love him, but she doesn't!. "None of us can choose where we will love", right!? also, the phantom is in her mind!. Raoul is in her heart!. The phantom also tries to force christine to love him by giving her hard decisions!. Throughout the whole story, everything Raoul does is for Christine; he risks his life time and again!. One last point!.!.!. Raoul and Christine were childhood sweethearts! They were in love long before the phantom fell in love with her VOICE!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

his mysteriousness is sexy, but he's so obsessed with her!. she's barely a woman, and needed security and warmth!. the phantom didn't offer that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
