There are a few to consider depending on your particular tastes!. Take a look at the Gibson Les Paul, SG, and ES-335 models; take a look at the made in America Fender Strats and Teles; and take a look at the made in America PRS models!. Any one of those will hold you in good stead for years to come!.

All of the new Gretsch guitars are made in Asia!. The better models start around $2000 which is certainly the same territory as the ones mentioned above!. I have not tried them but from what I read they are excellent guitars!. I know the high end stores carry them as do the chain stores!. My impression is that the $500 - $600 ones are pedestrian!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Gretsch's are totally cool - I have a 1962 double anniversary in the cadillac green!. But, they are a little wieldy to play!. I'm mainly a fender guy, but I have several gibsons as well!. Out of everything I have, my 1982 strat is the easiest to play!. Fenders are just easier to play than say a gibson or a gretsch - the neck is just easier to get around on!. I'd say go for an American strat - try to get something from the mid 90s - should be about $600 to $800 and it'll be a great axe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Accoustic, Yamaha!. It is the best for the $$$!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
