the main reason i dont play my bass as much as I would like is that it's kind of boring by myself so it's not that fun in my room alone so would a guitar be better for playing by myself and do you think i'd be more likely to stay with it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Oh yeah! No comparison - you can play whole songs, like singing along and stuff, rhythm, fingerpicking, and throw in some lead if you get good enough!. Can't do much of anything with just bass - that's about the same as playing drums by yourself!. !. !. !. and don't listen to the nay-sayers!. If you played bass that's all good for playing guitar - bottom four strings same notes as bass!. You done got the idea, just need to turn your head around a little!. But he love the one I play and the techniques i had on the guitar and of course, the harmony in my playing!. He switched to guitar and the guy is really really good!. I taught him a few things and became a good guitarist!. The edge I have over him is that I have the creativity and know all my scales and position!. I agree that guitar is more challenging in a way with the slurs, finger-tapping, bends and hammer-ons etc!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com An acoustic guitar is great for playing by yourself!. I know, I played solo acoustic fingerstyle guitar for years very happily :-) When or if you decide you want to play with other people, the guitar is great for that too, or you can play bass!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Just so you know, switching from bass to guitar is extremely hard!. You would now have 6 strings instead of four, and a pick!. Usually people start guitar then learn bass as it makes bass so much easier!.
